Featured presentation, KOTESOL, Seoul, 18-19 October 2003
Abstract
In this presentation, I will look at some of the ways in which information technology
can add value to the curriculum, from planning, through implementation to evaluation.
Key points made in the presentation will be illustrated with reference to a
number of projects being carried out within the English Centre at the University
of Hong Kong. These include the use of IT for course management, the use of
text and voice chat classrooms for online instruction, and the use of web-based
portfolios for assessing student outcomes. Advantages and disadvantages of these
initiatives will be presented and discussed.
